Well, the weekend is over and time to get ready for another week.  Hopefully, the students will be ready to test on capacity Tuesday.  We've worked very hard - just hope they retain the info!

Tuesday blahs

I realuze that tomorrow is hump day, but the first two days of this week rank in the negative numbers.  Somedays I just wonder what it is I am suppose to be doing because teaching is obviously not it.  Seriously, if the test scores don't go up-I give up.  I know nothing else to do. :(

It's a rainy day, but still a great day- Geaux LSU!  Still rewriting my lesson plans trying to find a wat to reach my students.  I want to use centers, but I'm afraid they will play and not learn.  Just hope I find the magical mix.

positive behavior plan

Our school has a positive behavior plan that allows 4 incidents before something realy happens.  Personally, I think that is 3 too many.  Wouldn't it be great if all parents were on the same page as we are?

math

Don't know about  the rest of you but so far this year my students are grasping math concepts so much easier than in the past.  I've decided to take things slower-not worring about scope and sequence.  Sometimes I think the higher ups have forgotten what it's like to be in the classroom.
Weekend is almost here.  Hope your weather is as great as ours!

Computers :(

Okay, so far Computers-4  Me-1

This year I have apparently been chosen by the computer gremlin community as "the one to stress" for 180 days.  My home desktop and laptop are possessed, my desktop and one of my school laptops are possessed and my Smartboard - well let's just say it's not so smart.  I am living with my entire electronic communication dependent on my Xoom tablet.  (FYI- I created my blog with this wonderful tablet.)  Oh- and did I mention that none of my family thought I needed an IPad-so I got a Xoom.

Review game for school

One of yhe best review games - not on an interactive whiteboard- is Kaboom.  I saw this at the Ron Clark Academy 3 years ago and each year students ask when can we play Kaboom.  Tske a Pringle chip can and cover with red construction paper.  Next, cut out a yellow starburst and glue on top of the red paper.  Label Kaboom! on the yellow.  Type your questions on cardstock, print, and cut the strips.  For every five questions, make a strip with Kaboom! written on them.  Students draw a questiin and answer.  if they get it write, the can play again or stay.  if the play and draw Kaboom, the loose the questions the had gotten correct and they go back in the can.  I'm sure this coukd be done electronically, but seeing as how I just put together a very basic blog page - I'm pretty sure I won't be the brains to figure it out.

Geaux Me!

So, after celebrating my 54th birthday I decided to start writing a blog.  Of course the fact that I spend 12 hours a day a school should not interfere with this at all.  Did I mention I'm the most unorganized this year than I ever have been in the past?  I hope to become as proficient and helpful ss other teacher blogs I have become so obssessed with.  Probably not, but maybe some of my post will bring a smile to your face.

So, to start the smiles, can I just say that my first parent complaint of the year (and may I add this is the third week of school) is that I DON'T GIVE ENOUGH HOMEWORK!  There-I've said it, I feel better and now I'm going to bed.
